Case Review: Diversified Wound Management with A Dual-Purpose Wound Occluding Honey Based Ointment The correct and effective management of wounds remains challenging within the wound care discipline even though much effort and attention has been directed toward novel technologies and advanced approaches. As wound healing takes place in four stages, the selection of the appropriate treatment, depending on the respective stage on the patients’ wound, is crucial. In addition, identifying the type of wound might be difficult in some cases, which in combination with the aforementioned further complicates appropriate wound management. This article discusses a single product wound management, by means of case studies, in an attempt to describe a simplified and possibly cost-effective way to manage wounds effectively. The efficient and proper management of wounds remains a clinical problem, frequently causing morbidity and mortality due initial and delayed complications. Consequently, a subst

Application of Mohs Technique for Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Nipple Cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the nipple areolar complex (NAC) is a rare entity with only a few cases reported in the medical literature. The standard treatment for invasive squamous cell carcinoma includes complete surgical excision of the lesion with postoperative assessment of free margins. Although this skin cancer involves the NAC it should be considered as a completely separate entity from other breast cancers, and therefore may be treated differently than breast cancers involving the NAC. Mohs micrographic surgery is a well-accepted technique for non-melanoma skin cancers (NMSC) with its remarkable precision for tumor eradication and tissue-sparing properties which favor excellent aesthetic outcome. We present a clinical case of 75-year-old Caucasian female who presented to our clinic with a papulose, scaly lesion located at her right nipple that was confirmed to be SCC of the nipple. The patie

Double-Advance Technique for the Closure of Inferior Cleft Lip The Objective is present a case of a medial cleft of the lower lip with associated ankyloglossia and a proposal for a double-advance local flap technique for its closure who attended the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Service of the Madre Rafols Hospital, Venezuela. A 4-month-old female patient, presenting a medial cleft of the lower lip with an associated aberrant frenulum of the tongue causing ankyloglossia (Tessier 30). Lingual frenectomy and primary cheiloplasty were performed with a double-advance local flap technique to close the lower labial cleft. A wedge-shaped incision along the labial cleft, with lateral extensions towards the mentolabial sulcus extending bilaterally were performed in order to advance both flaps and place the wound at the limit of the esthetic subunit, as well as a Z-plasty in the vermilion of the lower lip. Postoperative follow-ups did not reveal local complications or tissue dehiscence. Due to

The Use of Contralateral Autologous Breast Grafting Tissue In Breast Reconstruction: A New Approach Breast reconstruction surgery is an exceptionally important tool for repair of defects and asymmetries caused by the various types of surgical breast cancer treatment. Reconstruction is indicated regardless of lesion location in the breast when a quadrantectomy or sector resection has been performed. Although several surgical techniques are available for reconstruction, we propose a method based on contralateral breast graft replacement to preserve shape and symmetry.  This quasi-experimental study was performed with a sample of 42 women who had undergone quadrantectomy or wide resection, followed by radiation therapy, for treatment of breast cancer. The outcomes of interest were breast aesthetics and symmetry in the immediate postoperative period and after 3 months of radiation therapy. All patients were photographed preoperatively, pre-radiation therapy, and 3 months post radiation th

Intraosseous Skull Cavernous Hemangiomas: Case Report Primary intraosseous cavernous hemangiomas (PICHs) is a rare hemangioma in the skull. The diagnosis and treatment need to be coordinated by related specialties, in which the gold standard for diagnosis is histopathology. The clinical case is a 72-year-old male patient with a parietal frontal hemangioma originating in the skull, which is an intracranial cavernous hemangioma.   Treatment was consisted of vascular intervention, total cranioplasty, covering with an artificial material and a skin flap. The patient underwent 3 surgeries to remove the tumor, the second time the pathological result was a cavernous hemangioma of the skull. Hemangiomas are benign soft tissue tumors, usually in the skin of newborns and children. Hemangiomas may appear in other tissue including muscle, tendon, connective tissue, fatty tissue, synovial fluid, or bone1 . Hemangiomas are histologically classified on the basis of vascular channels including capill

Phsycosocial Evaluation of The Risks of Telework on Covid-19 Times The objective of this research is to identify the main factors of psychological risk presented by officials who have worked under the modality of teleworking, during the first semester of the Covid-19 pandemic. The methodology developed for this research was created out from a positivist paradigm, a quantitative approach, an exploratory character and with a non-experimental method. The tool applied CoPsoQ -istas21 provides the levels of psychosocial risk in people who work under the teleworking modality, however, it does not determine the origin of the risks, since the scope of the investigation has a sole purpose of diagnosis. According to the results obtained, it can be considered that the main psychosocial risk factors as a consequence of teleworking are the dimensions of the pace of work, quantitative requirements, emotional, double presence, employment insecurities and working conditions. The job positions exposur

Implications of the Theory of Mind in Learning: A Look from the Virtual Education Approach This research was born as an unknown related to the recent application of Virtual Education in educational centers, not only in Costa Rica, but worldwide. All of the above for reasons of public health prevention, given the presence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. This is how it is then tried to investigate whether there are implications in relation to the theoretical proposal of the Theory of Mind (TM) and its relationship with Distance Education (virtuality), as part of a new training model (teaching and learning). Since at present the role of the psychopedagogue must conform to the reality of educational innovation as an ally to achieve the implementation of dynamic learning of the current student. In this research, which is of a bibliographic nature, matrices were used for the documentary analysis of the arguments used as part of its theoretical framework. The aim of this work is to carry out an in-

False Memories in Minors as Alleged Victims of Sexual Abuse When referring to the issue of child sexual abuse, we are facing a situation of vulnerability for minors, who immediately require an interdisciplinary intervention that guarantees their emotional, physical, and social stability. However, it turns out to be a challenge for professionals in psychology, to be able to discern between a real argument of the alleged victim and a false memory established by external factors in the minor. It should be clarified that this article never tries to question, revictimize or not consider as real the minimum manifestation of sexual abuse by any person. This article highlights the importance of professional expertise when assessing a minor who has revealed alleged abuse. Multiple studies and publications have been carried out that refer to the implantation of false memories or recollections in people. Therefore, a conceptual, methodological, technical, and ethical review of the discrimination

Cross Cultural Differences in the Manifestation of Transference Outside the Psychoanalytical Setting Transference is a phenomenon that, since its identification and description by Freud,1-6 has been the focus of study7-11 by those interested in the psychological principles of human interaction. Clara Thompson12 stated that “transference was not created by psychoanalysis. As long as human beings have had relationships with each other, there have probably been irrational elements in those relationships” (p. 273). According to her, these irrational elements have been quite evident in those relationships in which one person was in a position of authority. She pointed out that “when Freud first described the phenomena which he grouped under the name transference, he was merely clarifying something which has been used unwittingly by physicians in their treatment of the sick throughout the ages” (p. 273). She goes on stating that there is usually an element of dependency involved in these re

What I want my Neighbors to Know about my Mental Illness I live in an apartment complex in a busy part of my town. From my second-floor balcony, I can see my neighbors coming and going from their jobs, appointments, and other activities. I don't really know any of my neighbors on a personal level. I live a rather isolated life except for occasional visits from my family. So, my interactions with my neighbors consist of a polite "Hello, how are you?" or "Have a nice day," exchanges. I sometimes wonder how they would react towards me if they knew I have a diagnosed severe mental illness. Most people know that a mental illness involves one's thinking or behavior. However, people may not know that all mental illnesses can be treated with a combination of medication and/or therapy. I take antipsychotic medications and also an antidepressant. Together these medications help me control my schizophrenic symptoms. To look at me, one would think I was physically fit,

Abusive Psychological Techniques used during Covid-19 Following the outbreak of Covid -19 Pandemic in March 2020, this paper will describe the use of various psychological and emotional techniques which were used by most Governments in the Western world who consider themselves to be Democracies, to gain compliance with measures designed to limit the spread of Covid -19. Chief among these techniques were the use of “nudges”, processes and procedures similar to Domestic Abuse and techniques of Brainwashing (Lifton, 1989) as used by the Chinese authorities following the Communist takeover in the late 1940s and early 1950s. The 8 aspects of Lifton’s model will be described in detail and how these were used by Western Governments during the Covid-19 pandemic. The conclusions reached regarding the use of such techniques demonstrate the unethical and abusive nature of how many Western Governments treated their citizens during the pandemic. In or around March 2020 most Western Liberal Democra

Question of Values When we talk about values, we immediately think this refers to ethics, but we could start with its basic definitions. As for example the so-called universals are the principles; thus justice, honor, honesty, peace among many others are usually respected by the common people as universal principles, correct and appropriate for social coexistence, and not necessarily all those that respect a scale of values, They respect the principles, because in gangsters they have scales of values to coexist as groups but with the difference that they disrespect all principles. On the other hand, when I try to return the principle as mine or my property, then I am converting the principle into value, and I put it into practice and preservation in my daily life, then we could say that from constant and repetitive practice I begin to acquire good habits that I turn into virtues, like the practice of bad habits promoted by anti values or the opposite of the values established and defe

Chinese Spirits Combined with Meat or Peanut as Antidote to 2019n-Cov Viruses and General Way to Keep Healthy by Oneself The 2019n-Cov caused serious health problem to human being, it is same severe as SARS but infectious as influenza viruses, it makes people must be quarantined from each other and impacted the world economy; however, people’s health couldn’t be castrated by the viruses, the problem must be solved to save people’s health as well as the world economy. In October 2020, President Trump also got infected by this novel coronavirus, but he got cured and recovered to health immediately by his therapy of a special antibody-cocktail, and that is just equivalent to alcohol (ethanol) with complete protein for immunity after eating. This provided a hint for solving the 2019n-Cov problem, it shows that alcohol with protein could probably cure the novel coronaviruses infection and perfect recover one’s health therefrom, as Trump did. By looking up literature in Chinese medicine, Tr

Decreasing Patient Falls by Including Medication Induced Factors in Fall Assessment Inpatient falls are the primary cause of injuries in health care facilities. The intended project goal was to reduce inpatient falls in the cardiac stepdown unit (CSU). Adding the Medication Fall Risk Score to the current fall risk assessment resulted in fewer falls. The CSU had the highest fall rate and the highest increase in patient falls. Patients in the CSU are often older. Medications used to treat this patient population are betablockers and antihypertensive meds. These medications are in the class of falls risk inducing drugs (FRIDs), which increases the possibility of falls in this population. The Cardiac Stepdown Unit (CSU) showed a 51% increase in falls while all other hospital units showed a decrease. Fall rates of the CSU are 4.12 per 1000 patient days which is above the hospital average of 1.89, and the national stepdown unit average of 3.44 (AHRQ, 2022). The CSU falls rate prompted discu

The Concept of Clinical Endometriosis: A Paradigm Shift in Africa The clinical symptoms of endometriosis, an illness characterized by ectopic endometrium (glands and stroma) outside the uterus, are mainly dysmenorrhea, dyspareunia, cyclic urinary symptoms and infertility. Although imaging modalities such as pelvic ultrasound can identify and localize endometriotic deposits in the ovary (endometrioma) and in bladder wall, diagnosis of the disease is impossible where such imaging modalities are unavailable or where clinicians are not trained to clinically diagnose endometriosis during consultation. Especially in sub-Saharan Africa, clinicians should be familiar with certain predisposing risk factors for endometriosis such as early age at menarche, shorter menstrual length and low body mass index. Delay in the diagnosis of endometriosis not only prolongs the duration of suffering, pain and discomfort but also lowers quality of life and increases cost of treatment. This article focuses on

Improving and addressing lymphocytes response against SARS-CoV-2 and its variants with intralveolar BCG administration   Bacillus Calmette Guerin administered by the aerosol route may locally elicit and increase T1 lymphocyte response in pulmonary alveoli, which are the main target of SARS-2-CoV-2 and its variants, thus preventing and anticipating the virus attack. This may lead to a decrease of the most severe forms of the disease considered as an acute autoimmune virus inducted disease. The lymphocyte response may start to work before and regardless of anti-CoVid vaccination. Since November 2019 a pandemic infection due to the SARSCoV-2 virus is still expanding in the world through human-to-human transmission. It affects the respiratory tract, mainly the lungs, but in its most serious forms can also impact other major organs such as kidney, intestine, heart and brain. This infection has the following characteristics: a) It is rapidly contagious via airborne droplets containing viral
