  SOJ Pharmaceutical Sciences - (SOJPS)| Stephy Publishers Abstract Piroxicam is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug used in the treatment of osteo arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, classified in the Bio pharmaceutics Drug Classification system as a Class II drug because it has low solubility and high permeability. It demonstrates a slow and gradual absorption via the oral route and has a long half-life of elimination, rendering a prolonged therapeutic action and a delayed onset of anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect. Thus, an attempt is made to formulate piroxicam fast disintegrating tablet so that it helps to render faster onset of anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect. To increase the solubility of piroxicam solid dispersion method is opted in the present investigation.
